Name: Shanon Lee

School: Stockdale High School

What are your goals for your presidency this year?

As president, I hope to make the best out of this situation we are all currently in and create a comfortable and fun atmosphere for our students. With the loss of so many activities, one of my goals is to take advantage of going online and finding creative ways to continue encouraging the student body. Another goal of mine is to heighten the support for students struggling in the middle of this pandemic, ensuring that they know to rely on their ASB whenever they are faced with difficulties and/or questions. Lastly, I hope to help my school create positive, long-lasting memories that they can take with them as they move forward.

How do you feel about your leadership team?

I feel very confident in the current ASB as they are all talented and bright individuals with their own set of strengths and skills. They are all very hard working and I feel very assured knowing that I can rely on them. I am very excited to work with all of them and cannot wait to see what we can accomplish together!

What kind of music do you like listening to?

I enjoy listening to Japanese pop, 70s/80s rock, and classical music!

Who are your inspirations?

Everyday, I am inspired by my parents and my sisters who are all so incredibly hard-working and supportive. I would not have been able to accomplish what I have without them. I am also deeply inspired by the previous ASB presidents and find myself motivated by their leadership and confidence.

What is your biggest fear?

My biggest fear is having my voice go unheard. However, I’m learning to continue speaking up despite that!

What motivates you to work hard?

The expectations and goals I have set for myself motivate me to work hard and to the best of my abilities. Knowing that other students and younger peers may look up to me, I am motivated to always go beyond my limits and do my utter best for them.

How would your friends describe you?

My friends would most likely describe me as independent, reliable, and perceptive.

What makes you laugh the most?

Telling or hearing jokes that go on endlessly without delivering much of a strong punchline make me laugh the most.

What is one thing you are really bad at?

I am absolutely terrible at singing. I am the person you do not want to be singing karaoke with!

What is one thing you are really good at?

I am good at reading people’s emotions and figuring out how to comfort them.

What shows are you binge-watching?

Currently, I am binge-watching “Avatar the Last Airbender” and “One Piece” on Netflix!

What is your favorite season?

My favorite season is winter, a season I have many great memories associated with.

Who are some of your favorite teachers?

I have had the pleasure of having many great teachers, but a few who have made a lasting impact on me are Mrs. MacLean, Mrs. Sande, Mrs. Mohammed, and Mr. Hertzog. They are incredibly supportive, kind, and motivate me with their own hard work and dedication.

What has been your favorite subject in school?

My favorite subject in school is psychology.
