Siblings in the Network: Toews Twins of Shafter HS

Toews Twins

By Victoria Valencia

Madison and Mackenzie Toews share a special sibling bond, and not just because they both attend Shafter High School, but because they are twins.

“The best part about having a twin is having a built-in best friend,” they shared.

Though they are twins that share many things in common, they each participate in separate activities at Shafter.

Madison participates in volleyball, basketball, and Future Farmers of America. Mackenzie is a part of cheer, drumline, and swim for the Generals.

Although the Toews do not participate on any teams together at Shafter, Madison and Mackenzie say that they love being able to see each other before games, when they get out of class, and being each other’s hype man at events.

“Our favorite day is picture day because that is when everyone realizes that we are twins,” they shared.

When we asked if they ever had any competition amongst the two of them, they shared that “Everything is a competition between us, but mostly grades.”

Their advice for other siblings is to “Never take your sibling for granted because one day you will need them.”
