Siblings in the Network: Rodriguez Siblings from East High School

Rodriguez Siblings

By Victoria Valencia

Two of the most dominant players on the East High Varsity Girls soccer team are not only teammates, they're sisters. Serena and Angelina Rodriguez are varsity returners for the Blades that have turned their sibling bond into support on the field.

"We have a natural connection on the field, and we work good together," says sophomore, Angelina.

Serena is a junior this year, and returns as the current BVarsity Southeast Yosemite League Defensive Player of the year. Angelina played alongside her sister, and was a part of the Blades’ impressive 8-2 run in league last season as a freshman.

"I enjoy her motivating me to be the best player I can be, and being able to play the game with her by my side," shared Serena.

The two have created many memories and formed a strong bond as a result of being schoolmates, teammates, and siblings. Their favorite memories include those created playing for the Blades together.

Serena shares her favorite memory was "Being able to make it to the valley championship alongside my sister."

When asked if she had advice for other siblings that play together she said, "I would say strive to motivate each other, and pick each other up. Always try to bring out the best in each other."

The Rodriguez sisters hope to get out on the soccer field to create more memories together again soon.
